Houstonians with Disabilities Know How to Navigate through Isolation

The Houston Chronicle’s A Special World asked six such individuals for their perspective on resilience in the era of COVID-19, one of which was our very own Julie Truong.
As social beings, quarantine and long-lasting, stay-at-home orders have brought feelings of isolation.

The Houston Chronicle sought advice from those who have experienced coping with isolation throughout their life. Specifically, from individuals who have a disability that has caused them to retreat because their bodies or minds required it for their health, or a mistrusting society gave them the side-eye and made them feel othered.

Julie Truong has Autism, and the world can feel overwhelming to her at times. To cope, Julie turns to her support system, a daily schedule to accomplish small goals, and to art!
