Workplace Design Strategist

The workplace design strategist is responsible for guiding clients through the Design and Workplace Strategy Process. This includes leadership assessment, culture and management style assessments, workplace programming, performance data collection/evaluation, vision session facilitation and bench-marking. All in the pursuit of helping clients build a meaningful Workplace Strategy. The consultant will have a key role in the translation of this strategy to the physical environment to support a design team.
Makes recommendations, educates clients and peers about new procedures, concepts, systems and corporate wide guidelines related to business strategy and design.
Develops and maintains relationships with client leaders and stakeholders to fully understand business objectives and translate those needs into workplace requirements.
Understands leading edge approaches to workplace and is connected to industry knowledge leaders in this arena. Actively participates in professional networks and industry groups to stay up to date on relevant industry benchmarks and best practices in workplace strategy and design.
Recognizes the critical synergy between workplace and business in a way that helps clients leverage the connection.
Recommends design and/or workplace solutions that are aligned with the company’s strategic priorities and objectives and enable the client to achieve their goals.
Recommends specific standards, guidelines, policies and procedures for office workspace, mobile or alternative workspace, and interior design/office branding that supports business requirements.
Delivers reports and presentations to client business leaders, key stakeholders and senior leadership that describe research, benchmarking and recommended solutions.
Establish and manage client expectations while maintaining a positive, proactive and professional demeanor.
Facilitate meetings with team and client contacts.
Responsible for keeping all phases of the project on schedule.
Plan, develop and execute communication strategies.
Develop and analyze surveys, individual and group interviews and focus groups.
Identify how workspaces influence human behavior and identify potential barriers to human performance in the workplace.
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture
3‐7 years of experience in interior design, programming, planning and consulting
Has previously practiced workplace strategy consulting and can bring value to expanding a delivery tool set
Familiarity with architectural drawings, space planning concepts and furniture systems a plus
Understands the value of change management enough to link it to Workplace Strategy
Previous experience should include programming and client‐focused pre‐design consulting
Computer proficiency with excel, word, and InDesign is critical. Access is desirable
Ability and desire to research workplace trends and understands why they matter to organizations
Willingness to travel when necessary to deliver consulting work to clients (once per month)
Be a self‐starter and motivated to support others while paving a path of expertise
Excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
