Being a project manager has allowed me to be involved in the many facets of the design process

Ruth Ortiz, Project Manager:  Being a project manager has allowed me to be involved in the many facets of the design process, such as programming, finish and furniture selection, construction administration. Past experiences have allowed me to be an adviser to the design team and client, an aide in document production, and a director in keeping a project successfully progressing. In my role, my priority is to successfully deliver a project to our clients by establishing clear communication, identifying parameters involved, and implementing a game plan to see the project through to completion. At the same time, we need to be flexible to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, changing requirements, and market disruptions while keeping everyone involved abreast of the ramifications of those occurrences and the resulting decisions. The most successful projects that I have worked on were those where teamwork and communication was at its best. The team not only includes the designer and the client, but also the production staff, the administrative staff, the contractor, consultants, furniture vendor, and anyone else involved that brings a project to fruition. Each member should be respected for their expertise and contribution and celebrated for the success of the project.
