What you’ll be doing:

The Payroll Specialist manages daily accounts payable activities and semi-monthly payroll to ensure that transactions are properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This team member must be team oriented, detail oriented, proactive, and goal driven. This position requires independence and excellent judgment to recognize and resolve problems within established policies and procedures.

Once selected to join our team, you will:

  • Responsible for reviewing and processing accounts payable invoices timely
  • Responsible for processing of semi-monthly payroll and changes to payroll (W-4 changes, retro pay, direct deposit changes, deduction set ups and changes)
  • Review and post customer payments and journal entries into the general ledger system
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax reporting including generating 1099’s and W-2’s
  • Cross-train on a variety of tasks to act as backup to other members of the finance team
  • Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with staff throughout the firm in a support capacity to assure compliance with internal and external accounting practices
  • Assist with day-to-day activities necessary for the month-end and year-end close process
  • Assist in annual audits, special projects, system conversions/upgrades.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 2-4 years of payroll and accounts payable experience in a project based professional services environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent project accounting ERP system a plus
  • Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce Payroll or equivalent a plus
  • Advanced Excel and Outlook skills required
  • Experience in A/E/C or professional services industry is desirable
  • Ability to work in an open office environment
  • Meet strict deadlines, manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Produce accurate and timely deliverables
  • A team player with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships
  • Results driven and detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
  • Must demonstrate strong initiative and be able to maintain confidentiality
