PDR recognizes and names Douglas Hellmann as an Associate Principal. Douglas joined PDR in 1998 and has served as Project Architect for a number of the firm’s most challenging projects. In the last few years, Douglas has applied his experience and expertise to serving as the Project Architect for the development of office interiors at ExxonMobil’s landmark campus in Houston. His contribution to the project has resulted in commendation from the client and PDR’s leadership team.
“Doug truly understands what it means to design a workplace for people from the inside out and he brings his understanding of that process to his role as project architect,” said Lauri Goodman Lampson, PDR President. “His solutions-oriented approach is invaluable as he works hand-in-hand with clients, contractors, colleagues and our own internal team. Doug leads by doing.”
Trained as an architect, Douglas was initially attracted to interior architecture by “the human scale and the ability to affect how people work and live.” As a champion for designing spaces for the workplace, Douglas asks, “What makes a building great from a business strategy perspective?” As part of the PDR team, it’s a question he has had ample opportunity to answer for the new ExxonMobil campus, which will include 20 buildings with office space for approximately 10,000 employees when completed in 2015.
Douglas earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University. He is a Registered Architect in the State of Texas and a LEED Accredited Professional through the United States Green Building Council.
