As Wesley Middleton, Managing Partner at MiddletonRaines + Zapata LLP (MRZ) recently shared with his social media followers, “We are starting with a blank slate and with the help of PDR Corporation we will have a home that reflects our culture and values.”
HBJ wrote two articles in October 2016 on MRZ titled, “Fast-growing accounting firm to relocate Houston HQ” and “With doubledheadcount, accounting firm plans expansion into Austin”.
“Houston's MiddletonRaines + Zapata LLP will relocate to Energy Tower IV in the Energy Corridor at 11750 Katy Freeway,” says HBJ. MRZ will move its 90 employees into the building in May 2017. MRZ has hired Houston-based PDR Corp. to build out its space at Energy Tower IV. The accounting firm will occupy the entirety of the 11th floor,” says HBJ. MiddletonRaines + Zapata is also opening its first office outside of Houston, in Austin at 901 S. Mopac Expressway and plans to be there by the end of 2016.
“The firm's bread and butter is catering to middle-market, privately held Houston-area companies, and the firm's leadership has no plans of changing its core focus area anytime soon. Middleton attributed the growth to the firm's unorthodox growth strategy: hiring a partner whose job is purely to foster growth at the firm. In September 2013, MRZ brought on partner Evan Tierce, who now leads the firm's practice growth team,” quotes HBJ. MRZ was also named a winner of the Houston Business Journal's Best Places to Work ranking for midsize companies. According to HBJ, MRZ says it could be attributed to their shuffleboard tables, weekly in-house yoga instructor and pool tables at their employees’ disposal.
PDR is excited to be partnering with MRZ in the creation of their new workplace!
